Very Impressive Showing!

There were some serious competitors at Texas BEST in Denton. But, our teams stood tall. Mumford came in 2nd in the robot competition and A&M Consolidated High School placed 3rd in the BEST Award competition. Both are incredible accomplishments.

There is no question about, there was a lot of enthusiasm at the Brazos BEST gameday on Saturday. The Brazos BEST Board of Directors is very proud of all the accomplishments that the teams displayed. Teams that were uniquely recognized include:

1st Place BEST Award: A&M Consolidated HS
2nd Place BEST and winner of Most Creative Design: Area Homeschool
3rd Place BEST: A&M Consolidated MS
4th Place BEST: College Station MS

On track and up to speed?

We now have one week behind us. Hopefully, your team has generated an extensive list of conceptual alternatives and game strategies and are now narrowing down the list with good analysis tools including decision matrices and rough prototyping.

T-shirt orders were due yesterday, but we will continue to accept orders right up until the time we place our order with Screened Images early next week.

Airplanes are likely to be distributed next week. Please don't hold up your decision/analysis/design process waiting for them. Whip out some cardboard and the specifications instead and gain some experience interpreting engineering specifications while you are at it.

Teams are officially launched on their 6-week adventure that is sure to be Just Plane Crazy. Thanks for all the volunteers that helped us rush the kits together and get things set up for kickoff. We know things got a bit chaotic at times. So, thanks to all the coaches and students for their patience.

Checkout our online discussion forum, The Wall (linked to the left). Feel free to share your Questions and Ideas there. Also, don't forget to keep in touch with the official Q&A at bestinc.org (using the password announced at kickoff). If you run into any problems, please let us know quickly to minimize your team's downtime.  BEST wishes to all the teams!

 
Kickoff Pushed Back until Wednesday Evening (not Tuesday as previously announced)
Looks like IKE wins and we need to reschedule. Brazos BEST Kickoff event is now rescheduled for next Wednesday, Sept 17th from 6pm-9pm at A&M Consolidated High School. Classes will run from 6-6:50 andfrom 8-8:50. The big group session will be from 7:00-8:00. Teams can begin checking in at 5:30. Keep in touch with the latest news by checking the Brazos BEST announcements regularly. Coaches should resubmit the student signups for the optional classes. BEST wishes as you deal with Ike.
